The Itialian Virginals were frequently made with seperate inner and outer cases hence the term "a pair of virginals" and date back to the 16th century.

This instrument has a solid sound and a rather reedy treble. Perfect for Elizabethan music through to the 18th century, small in size but large in sound and tone.

Developed from an Italian mid 17th century virginal in the instrument collection of the Charlottenburg museam, Berlin.
